I buy things — all the time!

Dance Lessons

Aw, my little niece has recently expressed an interest in taking dance lessons! I can just imagine her in a cute little ballerina outfit, twirling and spinning around until she gets dizzy and falls to the floor. Isn’t that how all toddler classes end up?!

I hope her parents let her take lessons. Who knows, she could grow up to perform professional ballet in Los Angeles someday. And even if she doesn’t, it’s practically a rite of passage for little girls to dream of being a dancer. I know I went through a similar phase, so I’m more than ready to encourage my niece to do the same!

Cast Iron Cookware

I’m not much of a cook, but one of my resolutions this year is to learn how to make at least seven more “elaborate” meals. (Obviously, for someone who tends to survive on BBQ chicken and meatloaf, my definition of “elaborate” will be quite different from yours.)

Anyway, something I’ve noticed on a bunch of the cooking sites and message boards I’ve been checking out is that most everyone seems to recommend using cast iron cookware. Apparently this makes a huge difference in taste as well as preparation. I just have the cheapest cookware I could find at Wal-Mart, so I wouldn’t really know.

Just to test this theory out, I’m thinking about buying a small cast iron skillet to start with. If I like it and if it’s easy enough to care for, then I might move on to additional accessories.

So now I just have to find a cheap one…!

Nike Free 3.0 V5 Shoes — Review

nike free 3.0 v5 Now that I’ve been using my Nike Free 3.0 running shoes for more than a month, I feel that I can give a definitive review of the product. I’m thrilled to say that my initial impressions of the shoe were spot on. These things rock!

Everything I liked about the shoe from the start, including the softness and flexibility throughout, have helped make my runs enjoyable again. The shoe puts zero pressure on my Achilles, which eliminated that pain. Meanwhile the slightly extra amount of cushioning was just what I needed to alleviate some IT band pain I’d been having.

These shoes are definitely not for everyone. If you need firm support and stability or want a lot of cushioning, you’re not going to find it here. But I love these things and have already bought two backup pairs in case Nike changes anything for the V6 release!

Redecorating the Kitchen

I really want to redecorate my kitchen, because after more than a decade in my home I’m getting tired of the same old look. I want something simple — maybe even country-ish. For example, I’m kind of obsessed with the burlap curtains at this site right now, and want to design my whole kitchen around that look. Who knows, I might even bring in a farm sink to complete the effect!

Anyway, this is still in the planning stages for now. I’ll be sure to post updates if I actually buy anything.

2014 Cotton Bowl Tee

cotton bowl champs After watching Mizzou win the Cotton Bowl, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for my alma mater. It’s been a while since I’ve bought any new black and gold gear, but think this is the perfect time to change that. This Cotton Bowl Champs t-shirt definitely fits the bill. I like the color and the fact that it represents the culmination of a successful football season. Plus, it’s only $22, so why not? I’m getting it!
