“Outrageously Overpriced” Products

September 7th, 2010 by Chronic Consumer

I was browsing through Investopedia today when I came across this article about 6 outrageously overpriced products. The products weren’t really a surprise, as I’ve heard about these before. But the article does provide some good extra details — such as how printer ink costs 71 cents per ml while the Red Cross charges just 40 cents per ml of blood. Yes, printer ink is more expensive than blood, oil, and just about every other kind of liquid out there. Amazing, isn’t it? It’s just friggin’ ink!!!

Anyway, here are the six things Investopedia warns you about:

  • Movie theater popcorn (duh)
  • Greeting cards
  • College textbooks (duh)
  • Bottled water (duh)
  • Printer ink (duh)
  • Name-brand clothes (duh)

So yeah, mostly common sense, but like I said, the details make the article worth a quick glance.
