The Chronic Consumer

Chalk this up to one of those Internet searches that starts out by being about one thing and ends up leading to a bunch of information about an entirely different topic. Today I was checking for car insurance reviews in the hopes of finding a cheaper alternative to my current policy, but I ended up reading about Paris Hilton’s sunglasses. How could this possibly happen? Maybe because the article states that her sunglasses “cost as much as a BMW“. Apparently, the car name in the title of the post was enough to include it in my search results.

Anyway, about these sunglasses… They’re called Luxuriator (fitting name) and cost a whopping $65,000!!! I usually don’t care what celebs spend on stuff, because honestly, $65k to Paris Hilton is equivalent to $65 (or even $6.50) for most people, so as a percentage of her income/net worth, that’s nothing. But in the grand scheme of things, you have to admit that paying $65,000 for a pair of sunglasses is just outrageous!!! Thinks of all the people that could be fed for that amount. Wow.
