Free Calendar and Mug
October 22nd, 2008 by Chronic Consumer
Yesterday afternoon I got a telemarketing call from one bank or other (the name escapes me right now) asking if I wanted to participate in a survey and listen to some mortgage quotes. If I agreed, they would send me a free 2009 calendar and a travel coffee mug for my time.
I’m all about getting freebies, so I said what the heck. It took all of 10 minutes, I just answered the questions as best I could, listened politely to the various rates they quoted, and then gave my mailing address for the prizes.
I know most people wouldn’t do this kind of thing for fear of getting lots more phone calls and junk mail, but I don’t mind. I have no qualms about saying “no” when I’m busy, and I just toss junk mail in the trash without ever opening it!
