Buying Firecrackers
July 2nd, 2008 by Chronic Consumer
With the 4th of July just two days away, I’ve been thinking about what we’re going to do to celebrate. I used to go to the Taste all the time on the 3rd to catch the fireworks show by the lake, but haven’t been there in years because of the crowds, heat, and filth.
The 4th usually means local celebrations, either here at home or at nearby friends’ places. Those parties typically involve barbecues, beer, and firecrackers (not exactly a safe combination!).
But for the first time in recent memory, I think we’re just going to stay home and not do anything special. With gas prices being what they are, I don’t really feel like driving all the way to Indiana to buy firecrackers, and our house is in no condition to receive guests. I don’t want to go anywhere because I’ve been working a lot lately and just want to relax at home.
So, I might just grab a bunch of sparklers and a box of Fun Snaps (those little white things that pop when you throw them on the ground) from 7-11 for my boy and leave it at that. Low key, low expense, low stress… sounds great!
